Time for a very late April wrap up! Hope you are doing alright.
The Banshees of Inisherin (2022, comedy/drama)
This was a movie club pic by H and I… did not like. I don’t think Irish humor is for me?? This felt unnecessarily violent which is not really my definition of fun. But! I am also just silly old me, so this is just a case of me not “getting” it.
Minari (2020, drama)
Another movie club pic (by me hehe) and we both had a great time with this one. The vibes and cinematography are immaculate and it has such a calm vibe despite the serious subject matter. Just a lovely time and I understood so much of the Korean that was spoken!
Wedding Season (2023, romantic comedy)
This was sooo lovely! I had a great time with Asha and Ravi at all these weddings and they were very cute, too.
Shadow & Bone Season 2 (2023, fantasy)
What a rollercoaster of emotions. From “oh god this is so boring” (I hate Alina’s storyline) to “fuck yeah this is the best thing ever” (the crows are my babies and I will not accept any slander towards them). I’m very interested to see where they are going with this story since it is now quite a way away from the book series!
Ducks by Kate Beaton (2022, graphic novel memoir)
I think graphic novel memoirs are a thing I enjoy greatly! This one is beautifully illustrated and hard hitting. I’m glad that Kate told her story.
Lonely Castle in the Mirror by Mizuki Tsujimura (2017, fantasy/magical realism)
Lonely school children create a found family in the castle in the mirror!! They were sooo lovely and although I guessed the “twist”, I still had such a good time. Cried through a good twenty pages in the end. This one hit a nerve!
Delilah Green Doesn’t Care by Ashley Herring Blake (2022, sapphic romance)
Very hot! A fun read, but I am exhausted by characters in romance novels abusing alcohol constantly. Alcohol for courage, alcohol for dealing with bad emotions, alcohol to celebrate, alcohol when you’re bored. What even.
A lot of good fic this month! 175k of it and most of it was Stray Kids themed.
Here are some favs:
- Law of Probability by rhytmsextion (skz, chan/changbin)
- 품에 안겨 kiss by merryofsoul (skz/ateez, wooyoung/minho)
- In The Wayhouse by averytree (skz, chan/minho)
- future perfect by sharpa (skz, jisung/hyunjin seungmin/minho)
- Changbin used KABEDON - It's super effective! by roxashighwind (skz, hyunjin/changbin)
- I've Got Nothing To Do Today But Smile (The Only Living Boy in New York) by gyzym (Inception, arthur/eames)
